Me: Zoe, would you put the milk away?

Zoe: "Mom, why do you make me do everything like Cinderella?"

Me: (No response)

Zoe: "You make me put the milk away, you make me go to school, you make me do lots of things!"

Me: (No response)

She dropped it and moved on to something else.


Two lessons from this little episode:

1) Silence is golden.

2) Next time, I'll say please!

3) Taking her the theater to see "Cinderella" obviously has it's drawbacks.

C25K Update!

GOOD NEWS: I'm now up to running 4 miles at one time. I don't think I've ever ran the far during one run consecutively! I'm so excited!

BAD NEWS: I haven't dropped a stinking pound!

So I need to reevaluate the situation. I might have to bring out my old stand-by favorite, Bikini Bootcamp. There is NO WAY I can do the whole program (I'd need a chef, a maid, and about 3 extra hours a day to get all the meals and work-outs in), but I can do bits and pieces of it so I can start shedding some of the pounds.

Really, how difficult can it be to lose 10 pounds?

Obviously, very!

Cinderella

Grammy, Zoe, & I attended "Cinderella" put on by the local theater. It was wonderfully done! We loved it! The best part was that we got to meet the cast afterwards! Zoe was thrilled! I need to find the Julie Andrews' version of this musical on DVD-I never one existed, but they were raffling one off. Very cute!

Celebrating with Winnie the Pooh

Samantha turned two! It was a happy day! It was fun to visit with everyone!

Robert suggested that we stop calling her "Baby" now that she's two....I'm thinking about it. She answers to about anything: Sammy, Sammy-Kat, Kat, Boo-Boo (think Yogi Bear), Sam, and of course, Baby. So I need to seriously consider if I want my daughter to grow up being called Baby. It reminds you of that whole "Dirty Dancing" thing. "No one puts Baby in the corner!" What's a mother to do?

Visiting with Great Grandma R.

A trip to McDonald's, a little shopping, ice cream cones, and playing at Great Grandma's! It was really nice to be able to spend some quality time with Grandma. It was a great day to hang out with 4 generations of girls! We all had fun!

Mental Mommy Moment in Meijer

Yesterday, shopping in Meijers, I had a Mommy Moment. The funny thing was that I didn't even have the girls with me!!! I had a day off due to Parent-Teacher conferences so the girls went to school and I went on errands. The conferences went really well, but it was just one of those weeks you know?

This is an extremely hectic time of year for me at work. We are prepping for the upcoming Ohio Achievement Tests and I'm pleased to report that my students' progress is blowing me out of the water! They are AWESOME! I was up for reevaluation and so that's been stressful (my principal kept telling me that I had nothing to worry about, but 1) she's my new boss AND 2) this is just one of the things in my life that I take very seriously....it's my job!) It went really well, and I shouldn't have worried. She was very pleased and said I was wonderful, so wonderful that she kissed my feet in front of my class! I wish somebody could've taken my picture right then to register the look of shock on my face. The kids couldn't believe it either. After she left, they asked, "Did she really kiss your foot?" And I said, "She really did. I felt it!" (I had on sandals!) She's awesome to work with and I just love her! (Still, I'm glad my evaluation is OVER!) Anyhow, we just wrapped up grade cards, followed by conferences, doing test prep, filling out the paperwork for next year's supplies, scheduling field trips, etc. It's just B-U-S-Y! I write all this so you can get the state of mind I was in...just a little more emotional than normal!

So with most of my school stuff behind me, I could now give all my attention to Sammy's birthday party! She's been watching the New "Tigger and Pooh" show on the Disney channel and it's her favorite, with Elmo being a close second. So she chose Winnie the Pooh as her theme....Well, I didn't anticipate that the party store would close down the week after Easter with NO warning and there isn't another store in a 50 mile radius that has Winnie the Pooh plates, cups, napkins, etc. However, Elmo is EVERYWHERE! Since Zoe had that as her theme, I was hoping to make Sammy's different and special so even though it was tempting, I stayed the course. In the end, I had to resort to the Mom's Network and was able to get three Winnie the Pooh tablecloths, a really cute candle topper, and a set of cups (Thanks, Jen!). I found Winnie the Pooh mylar balloons at the dollar store and some other little things like Winnie the Pooh chalk, frisbees, books, figures, etc.

So I'm at Meijer and I'm running through the store with my list and think I'll check out their kids' clothes in case they have a Winnie the Pooh shirt (they didn't) and in doing so, I pass the baby aisle....the baby food jars, the baby clothes, the little shoes....and I look at those things and I remember days gone by. Mind you, she's only turning two, but it seems like so long ago. It doesn't help that we are seriously considering sending Zoe to Kindergarten next fall either. My kids are growing up. I'm happy for them, but it's kind of sad for me. I'm not quite ready to let go - even if they aren't going very far. I know that I will, of course, because I would never hold them back from things that they are ready for, but.... Well, it's OK to shed a tear. Even if you're in Meijers, pushing a cart loaded with happy, fun birthday party supplies....

Sesame Street Live!

This was Zoe's third trip to see Sesame Street Live and Sammy's first! We really went to this for Sammy. She loved her Elmo light-up gizmo! She could've walked out right then and would've been perfectly happy! The girls both enjoyed the show immensely! At one point Sammy just wanted to be held and cuddled because she was sleepy. (We went in the evening this year.) However, she bopped right back with her second wind after intermission and was dancing and clapping! Very cute! Elmo is definitely her favorite with Zoe & Cookie Monster tie for second place. It reminds me of when we were trying to get pregnant with Sammy. We were out buying clothes for Zoe and it's so fun to buy her things with her name on them with the Sesame Street line. Hubby said he would agree to another child, but we'd have to name it Elmo! We nicknamed the baby Elmo while I was pregnant and received some cute Elmo clothes. Lucky for me, "Elmo" turned out to be a girl and I got to name her something else! Actually, if we had a boy, we wanted to name him Max David after his mother, Maxine, and my dad. Zoe wants a baby brother, but Robert firmly tells her NO! It's hysterical! As for me, I'm happy with two girls!
