Highlights!

OK, so two weeks ago, after a very long hiatus (measured in YEARS), I decided to revisit my old stylist and get highlights. It is very difficult for me to justify getting this done, but I paid my time and went "au natural" and opted for highlights. To be honest, not too many people notice the difference. Hubby isn't too impressed, my own mother didn't notice, friends and family didn't say a word! HOWEVER, I KNOW! And, even funnier, my students picked up on it right away! These are third graders! It cracks me up. In fact, I wasn't going to even blog about this, except just today in the cafeteria a nine-year old (not even in my class) told me that he really liked my hair. And I was like, "You do?" And he was like, "Yeah, I like the highlights." BIG PAUSE Then very softly spoken: "They're beautiful." What a sweetheart! So I said thanks and walked out with a smile on my face. Maybe his mom is a hairdresser? Regardless, the kids notice every single time I get my hair done, bless their hearts! Too funny!
BTW-that's not me up there in the before and after pics.

Sleeping Angels

I love to check on the girls before I go to bed and watch them sleep..they are so peaceful. It gives me the chance to study their eye lashes. Listen to their breathing. Pick up their little hands in mine. Swoop down for one more last goodnight kiss.

Here's a quote from a new book:

"Sometimes, when you sleep, I watch you dream, and I dream too.."

(If you haven't read this #1 New York Times Bestseller called Someday by alison mcghee and peter reynolds, pick up a copy today!)

My girls amaze me each and every day...my heart swells with love and I am overwhelmed. There is good in this world. I have evidence in the form of two beautiful girls! They are loved.

A Lawn Mower for Mother's Day!

My husband truly isn't hopeless, but it is true that he purchased a new lawn mower over the weekend and since I'm the one who mows the lawn, you could make the assumption that he bought it for me. Believe it or not, I am grateful.

Mother's Day morning, he and the girls surprised me with two cards: one from him and one from them (Elmo-themed, no less!) a bird feeder, bird food, & a pot of flowers from them; foot massage lotion, stress-relieving bath salts, and a coupon for a pedicure from him! I really should put him up for the sweetest husband award! He's a gem! (If you have any great Father's Day ideas, send them my way!)

Mother's Day weekend was spent with extended family: my side Saturday, his side Sunday. It was wonderful to relax and enjoy our time together. The girls love to be surrounded by family. It was a fun! Hope you all had a happy weekend honoring your mothers!
